The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has officially announced the nominations of all categories of films for 2024. Many spectacular movies have caught the attention of the audience in 2023. As expected “Oppenheimer” is leading at the peak of the nomination with 13 nods(1 behind all-time record-holder nominations By La La Land, Titanic & All About Eve). 

Last year the epic clash between “Oppenheimer and Barbie” was a clash of titans. But Barbie is far behind “Oppenheimer” having 8 nominations for Oscar. The other movies Like Poor Things (11), Killers of the Flower Moon(10), Maestro(7), Past Lives(2), American Fiction(5), The Holdovers(5), The Anatomy of Fall(5), The Zone of Interest(5) have got the nominations for the best movie.

Greta Gerwig, director of  Barbie surprisingly fall from the race with the best actress Margot Robbie for Oscar 2024. The only performer nominated for Barbie would have been Ryan Gosling. Christopher Nolan is highly apprehended to win the Academy Award for the first time in his Hollywood career. Other directors are Jonathan Glazer for The Zone of Interest, Martin Scorsese for Killers of the Flower Moon, Yorgos Lanthimos for Poor Things, and  Justine Triet for Anatomy of a Fall.

Meanwhile, Lily Gladstone, Di Caprio’s Co-actress became the first native American to be nominated for the Academy Award and Robert De Niro for the best supporting actor. Robert Downey Jr.(Oppenheimer) is also competing in the noms of the best supporting actor. 

Killers of the Flower Moon director Martin Scorsese, at 81, became the oldest directing nominee ever.
